While millions of Americans will focus on getting physically fit this
January, how will they become financially fit? A new survey finds that 45% of
consumers are worried about their finances heading into 2005, and FamilyFN --
America’s Family Financial Network -- has decided to do something about it: help
Americans get off on the right financial start in 2005 by giving away one
million copies of its Quick & Easy Budget Kit CD.
LOS ANGELES, CA (PRWEB) January 29, 2005 -- “As Americans reach for the
credit card bills in mid-January, the reality of post-holiday spending will sink
in,” says Jennifer Openshaw, CEO of FamilyFN, author, and frequent financial
commentator on CNN. “Our giveaway will help one million Americans start the New
Year right financially.”
A survey conducted on behalf of FamilyFN from
December 15 through December 23 found that 74% of consumers expect to prepare a
budget in 2005. Consumers also said their top financial priority in 2005 was to
save more (33%), followed by paying down debt (28%).
“Consumers are
hurting financially – whether it’s the former teacher who lost retirement
benefits or the family that just lost its primary source of income,” says
Openshaw. “Their number-one concern is keeping spending in line – not just to
keep afloat but to get ahead.”
The survey, conducted by Sacramento-based
Elliott Benson among those with household incomes of $40,000 to $75,000, also
found that: • 45% say they are very or somewhat worried about finances
heading into the New Year • 20% felt they spent more than they could
afford • 36% felt at least some emotion played a role in their holiday
spending
Whether a college student, professor, surfer, teacher or
plumber, the Kit, made for even the most inexperienced computer user, is perfect
for anyone wanting to learn how to get their budgets under control. The Budget
Kit can be ordered at www.freebudgetkit.com through February 15, 2005. Standard
shipping and handling of $4.95 applies. The complete Quick & Easy Budget Kit
(workbook and CD) retails for $24.99 and will be in bookstores in February.
FamilyFN’s mission is to bring objective, conflict-free advice at a
fraction of the price to middle-income Americans. Openshaw, founder of Women’s
Financial Network (now a division of Siebert Financial), is also author of the
book and host of the Public Television Show, “What’s Your Net Worth?” She has
been featured on Oprah and has appeared on CNN and many other programs.
